Hospice Care of the LowCountry

Testimonials

The team was incredibly responsive – my dad only lived a week after moving in with me and going on the program. Things happened quickly and it was a challenge for the nurse to educate us about what was happening. Their patience was incredible. Also, the dog lady brought her Great Dane by even though they had worked a full day. That brought my dad so much joy! Thank you!

The support, sensitivity, kindness, understanding, and competence they offered while caring for my mother leading up to her passing was incredibly comforting to her and to us. The nurses, social worker, home health care workers, chaplain and office staff with whom I had contact made a very difficult time better in ways I could not have anticipated. They are wonderful people who fulfill a very challenging role with incredible grace.

Very impressed on how we were handled. Felt good and relieved in the fact that we were in good hands and that the team would handle anything that would come up. Mary Anne was great!

My wife, Gail, and I have been blessed by having hospice for all four of our parents during their final preparation for life on another plane. The thoughtfulness and genuineness relieved stress on ourselves, as children trying to remain strong while facing our own fears and insecurities. Hospice KNOWS!! They know the needs, the fears, the confusion that families face in this situation, and they don’t hesitate to acknowledge those insecurities, while at the same time they place all of their support behind the patient. What a gift they are!

I was very, very pleased and appreciative of the hospice care we received. First, I thought everyone was focused on making Barbara’s existence comfortable and pleasant. They went to the extreme in helping me to keep her clean and “pain free.” Secondly, they helped me, as the caregiver, to feel like I was doing all I could to help Barbara…they really helped me to cope with her condition and to bolster my confidence that I was “helping her.” I’ll never forget the help I was provided by each of the hospice, to include those who answered the phones when I called.

My mother was a resident of a nursing home so I didn’t have daily contact with her and wasn’t able to monitor/observe her care as if she had been home. That fact notwithstanding, I noted a higher and certainly better level of care while she was a hospice patient. Though painful to watch, I’m very confident her final three weeks were more comfortable than had she not been a hospice patient. I felt much more at ease knowing the hospice nurse was closely managing her med regimen and care. For that alone I’d recommend Hospice Care of the Lowcountry.

I have been moved by the care of your team of professionals so much so that I have told many people of the loving care my father received, and of the spiritual guidance the family received, that my friends felt compelled to send gifts in the name of my dad to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. I thank you so very much!!

Everyone was nice and helpful during and after my mom’s visit. I’m having difficulty dealing with my mom’s death. Thanks to all, especially the lady that talked me through things during the nights I didn’t know what to do, and for talking with me after my mom’s going away.

Mary Anne was my mother’s assigned nurse and we could not have had a better one. She was very strong willed. Mary Anne was patient, kind and firm when she needed to be – exactly what my mother needed! She was the perfect choice – and I cannot thank her enough.

Thanks for excellent care for my father. I wish I had been involved earlier, although I understood all that was going on. I felt a lot of stress as the primary caregiver in his last 10 days of life and was exhausted physically and emotionally. I could have used a bit more time with the hospice team.

I cannot give enough thank you-s to Sarah and Arlene for the awesome care and love they gave to my mother!! They have earned their halos and angel wings! I will never forget them. God bless you both for your love and support!

My mother’s nurse was always caring and compassionate. When talking with us, we never felt rushed, it was though mom was the only patient she had to tend to. She gave me confidence that the care I gave my mother, turning, feeding, watching for sores, etc., was correct for someone with no medical experience – this was most helpful to me. Everyone we came in contact with from Hospice Care of the Lowcountry made a stressful situation easier to deal with. We are truly grateful!

I am so thankful for Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. Our time was very short, but my family and I are so thankful. We miss my mom very much. Without the help of Hospice Care of the Lowcountry we would have been left with many questions. Thanks to all.

This is the second time I have experienced Hospice Care of the Lowcountry for a loved one. I could not be more happy for all that the team did for both situations. This is a wonderful caring group of people and I thank them so very much.

It takes special people to be involved in this type of work – their value is not measurable. Thank You.

I could not have asked for, or received, more support at the worst time of my life. The help, the attitude, the overall consideration was wonderful. Thank You.

The best thing I did was call Hospice. I called for help when I began to think I could not handle my wife’s needs well enough by myself. Her last days were much more comfortable with the care from Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. Bless all of your staff.

My mother-in-law was very determined to write her finale – the nurse and others helped her reach that curtain call with comfort and dignity, surrounded by all those that loved her!

Please accept this donation as a memorial to xxxx. She and her husband were so grateful for your help in her last days. If you could have only seen their faces after your first visit with them. The stress fell away and they seemed so much calmer than they had in previous weeks. God bless you for helping my best buddy pass peacefully from this life to the next.

I wish I had asked for help sooner taking care of him after he fell.

I think hospice would have been helpful adjusting medication if they had been involved earlier. However, my father was always so independent, no one wanted to make decisions for him too soon. I appreciate all of their help even though they were involved for a short time.

The support my mother and we received was exemplary. Mom went very fast, but was comfortable and the last words she spoke (the day before she died) were, “I’m happy.”

The Hospice Team was incredible… a God send… earth angels. Suzi Oliver was the lead nurse and she is amazing, talented, gifted, a superb communicator, and compassionate. Everyone who cared for my mom was the BEST of the BEST. This journey was better for mom and me because of the care and love and compassion of the HCL team. I am deeply grateful.

Thank you hospice team for caring for my dad and for making his passing a calm and pain-free experience. Although losing a parent is painful, your teachings and guidance helped me to make it through the time, and help him pass through as he should, and for this I am ever grateful.
