Our featured donor is Dr. Margaret Kush. Margaret is originally from Nova Scotia, migrating to Washington D.C to pursue her medical degree at George Washington University. Specializing in Geriatric Care, Dr. Kush has a high level of hospice care understanding.

When asked why she elected to donate to HCL she said, “Hospice Care of the Lowcountry is willing to give the patients and patient families what they need and at times what they did not know they wanted.”

Margaret prefers to support not-for-profit hospices because their ability to provide more services for the patient’s holistic care is vital to a better transition at the end-of-life. She specifically enjoys HCL’s Hos-Pet and We Honor Veterans Programs.

During her career in Pittsburgh, Margaret treated and supported many patients and families. She was a key leader in for-profit and not-for-profit hospices as well as other medical care facilities. Margaret expresses how being able to give financially and as a volunteer to an organization so dear to her heart is a blessing to her. She understands the need and wants to provide in any way she can, especially for patients who may not have anyone for support.

Fun fact: Margaret has collected dolls that represent elders such as Rose Dawson from the Titanic (see photo!). If you ask Margaret how many dolls she owns, well let’s just say it remains a mystery.
